The Cambodian Volleyball League for the Disabled (CNVLD) has retained the services of Christian Zepp as the Cambodian National Team coach for the upcoming WOVD World Cup in Phnom Penh.
“Christian Zepp has attained somewhat legendary status in Cambodia having coached the national team since the first World Cup the Kingdom staged in 2007 when Cambodia emerged with a bronze medal,” CNVLD General Secretary Christopher Minko told the Post yesterday.
“The coach returns to work with a fresh team and a newly appointed fitness coach Willy E Guillory with only one objective in mind – to become World Number 1,” Minko added.
Zepp is currently coaching a women’s team in Germany but will travel to Phnom Penh ahead of the July 23 start of the week-long event which will be held at the inside hall of Olympic Stadium.
Meanwhile, three women have been named among the team of eight match referees officiating at the World Cup. They are Jung Mal Soon of South Korea, An Qi of China and Ute Fischer of Germany.
The male officials include M. Mohamad Amee Noordin Bin Sanusi of Malaysia, Darius Jasinski of Poland, Andrew Davison of Australia, Pierre Farmer of the US and Mehdi Ashouri of Iran.
